E-DRUG: Faster Test Detects Fake Tamiflu Drugs (3)
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear E-druggers,
As a follow-up on Dr.Jähnke's email regarding our DESI-MS method for
screening of Tamiflu, I'd like to briefly add that most instrumental
screening tests should be complemented with a field test such as the one
developed by GPHF, or colorimetric tests such as the one developed by
Dr. Green at the CDC Atlanta. In this sense, I am convinced that a
multi-tiered approach to fake drug detection involving (1) rapid test,
(2) instrumental screening test, (3) forensic lab tests (HPLC,
microscopy etc.) is the most powerful framework to detect fake drugs.
Instrumental screening tests should minimize sample preparation, and
maximize the amount of chemical information obtained for a given sample
in a matter of a few seconds. We are in the process of preparing a
publication regarding our Tamiflu screening method.
With my very best wishes,
