As a follow up of our last press release (in attached file)
[Attachments don't transmit on 'lists' like e-drug. BS]
After all we have been hearing - coming directly from DG Trade and DG
Development of European Commission, regarding their misleading
interpretation of TRIPS agreements, we can call this a step forward :
the European Commission seems to have change its mind.
At a Public AIDS hearing on the 10th of October at the EU Parliament
Mr. Nielson (Pdt of DG Devel.) said: "Industry is against it, but
compulsory license is allowed by TRIPS. As an answer to Act Up,
production for export is NOT forbidden by TRIPS. It is stated that
national authorities can produce predominantly for domestic use, which
implies that it does not need to be for national use only".
He added that production for export only was not a possibility.
