Dear E-druggers,
HAI Europe was heavily engaged with the RUM resolution activities at the
last EB and has been following events closely over the past months.
The resolution that will be presented is a watered version of the one
discussed in 2006. It is important to note that key provisions have been
deleted, such as the need to establish a body which not only promotes
the rational use of medicines but also monitors their use. Nevertheless,
other important aspects have been added, among which the need to enact
and/or enforce existing legislation to ban unethical promotion of
medicines, including DTCA, to monitor drug promotion (...) and to tackle
perverse incentives.
In order to provide background information on the importance of the
resolution and what it should contain, we have prepared a comprehensive
briefing paper, jointly with the Ecumenical Pharmaceutical Network.
Should you be interested in receiving a copy of the document, please
send over your request to teresa@haiweb.org.
Best wishes,
Teresa Alves
