[e-drug] frusemide oral liquid issue (feedback)

E-DRUG: frusemide oral liquid issue (feedback)
----------------------------------------------

Dear E-drug colleagues,

Thanks alot for your very useful suggestions. Since
the commercial oral liquid formulation is not
currently available in Rwanda, we went for direct
dilution from the injection, and the neonate is
responding well. Meanwhile, we are making efforts to
obtain a commercial formulation from Kenya, for
ambulatory use after discharge from the hospital.

Regards to all.

E-DRUG: resources for children formulations
-------------------------------------------

I just want to recommend a link for anyone with similar formulation queries for children:

The British Neonatal and Paediatric Pharmacists Group http://www.nppg.org.uk/ has lots of useful links on their website.

Under the "Pharmaceutical links" category there is a "Formulation and stability database". The information in the databsse was gathered from hospitals throughout the UK and from published work.

If you do a search for frusemide you will find 3 different formulations with various length of shelf-life for extemporaneously prepared frusemide solution for children.

There are lots of other useful peadiatric pharmacy info on this website.
