E-DRUG: generic drugs and medical supplies suppliers, purchasers

E-DRUG: generic drugs and medical supplies suppliers, purchasers
----------------------------------------------------------------

Dear all,

We will start soon with an investigation of the suppliers and purchasers
of essential generic drugs and medical supplies throughout the different
regions of the world. Therefore we need to built an index of them, that
we would like as large as possible.

For each country, we take an interest in the suppliers that are reliable
as for their service and the quality of their products, as well
manufacturers than wholesalers.

For each country, we also take an interest in the main purchasers acting
for the major fields of activity : the State, the national and main
regional drug agencies of the public sector, the supplying structures of
the non profit private sector (religious, NGO, etc.), the private sector
acting in the field of generic drugs and essential medical supplies.

May we ask each of you, working in the field of health and/or drug, a
litlle contribution to make possible this index building, through
providing all information you can find on suppliers and purchasers
installed in your country.

We would like to find all possible information on the following
criterias:

   * complete identification
   * localisation
   * complete addresses : principal place of business and production
     sites
   * contacts : commercial and technical
   * pharmaceutical status : manufacturer (generics or supplies),
     wholesaler
   * commercial size (if known : turnover, in which the part of genrics

     others
   * for the manufacturers : are each of their production sites GMP
     certified ?
   * list of their main clients (if known), and for each of them their
place of business, their field of activity, the type of contracts
     (tenders, negociated, direct)
   * if you are a purchaser : do you or did you have contracts with the
     supplier ?
   * idem : your global evaluation of the supplier

2. About the purchasers:

   * complete identification

     private)

Some additional information also would be useful for our investigation:

Could you give us the name, complete address and contacts of the
following types of structures:

   * Quality control laboratories (could you indicate their status and
     size)
   * Quality certification organisms (in particular those who are
internationally known and may deliver ISO certification)
   * Custom survey companies (like SGS or Veritas)
   * Companies producing management softwares that can be used for drug
     supply management

We know that our demand could be a little bit time consuming for you,
but it is essential for our purpose.

We hope that we will later be able to give somme feedback for part of
all this information.

We thank each of you in advance for your kind cooperation.

[WHO/AFRO and Worldbank/MSH are already collecting price information.
Adding a database of potential suppliers and purchasers could definitely be
helpful. This could become a very powerful document.

However, I think E-druggers would be more active if it was clear how you
are going to use the information. Is it going to be a non-profit, public
domain database, accessible in print (annually updated?) and/or on the
Internet? Etc. WB]
