E-drug: Generic quality (cont)
---------------------------------------------
I know that I may sound like a broken record but I would suggest that the
best way to procure assured quality generic products is through the creation
of a "whitelist" of quality producers. If such a list was used by
organizations procuring generic products and was updated regularly,
the poor quality or unreliable producers would be squeezed out and
the good suppliers would be rewarded.
Creating such a whitelist would require that the large procurement agencies
and national procurement authorities share their lists of prequalified
suppliers. How this could be done I do not know, but I suspect that a
non-profit Foundation would be a good site for such a repositary of
procurement information.

[The Pacific countries set up an information exchange where they
shared this sort of information to help each other. If companies
know this sharing will happen it could even encourage better
compliance with quality criteria. BS]
