Dear E-Drug members,

Please find below information on a vacancy in the Amsterdam offices
of HAI Europe.

HAI (Health Action International) is a non-profit, global network,
linking health, development, consumer and public interest groups in
more than 70 countries, to promote rational use of medicinal drugs,
HAI supports policies for medicines that are acceptably safe,
effective, affordable and meet real medical needs. We campaign for
better controls over drug promotion, equitable pricing of medicines,
and the provision of balanced, independent information for
prescribers and consumers.

The HAI network was founded in 1981 and now operates through
regional offices in Asia, Africa, Europe and Latin America. HAI is
internationally known for its independence, expertise and successful
campaigning and representation; its work has been supported by a
wide variety of donors, including bilateral agencies, private
foundations and the WHO. As the number of issues continues to
grow, so does the need for HAI to undertake campaigns and projects
to ensure medicine policies meet consumers' needs.

HAI is now seeking a Campaigns Coordinator for the HAI Europe
office, located in Amsterdam. The office runs a small team of 4 staff
who work closely with HAI Europe allianced partners and with the
other HAI regional offices. The present focus on EU pharmaceutical
policies, and the potential global effect, means frequent travel.
Applicants are expected to have proven campaign and lobbying
experience; expertise in fundraising and managing budgets; clear and
convincing communication skills; excellent English and an
understanding of other European languages; analytical skills relevant
to policy development. A familiarity of working with NGOs is an
advantage.

This is a full-time senior position (36 hours per week), based in
Amsterdam. Salary is based on experience with a max. of 4200 euro
gross per month (on fulltime basis). Secondary benefits are available.
A contract for one year is offered, with possibility of extension.
Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the Netherlands. The
planned starting date is January 2004.
