Health Action International (HAI) is an informal network of some 150
consumer, health, development action and other public interest groups
involved in health and pharmaceutical issues in 70 countries around
the world. HAI actively promotes a more rational use of medicinal
drugs and believes that all medicinal drugs marketed should meet real
needs, have therapeutic advantages, be acceptably safe and offer
value for money. HAI has coordinating offices in Malaysia, Peru and
The Netherlands.
The European coordinating office (HAI-Europe) is currently seeking a:
Project Officer, Policy and Campaigns
The project officer will be responsible for planning international
campaigns in close collaboration with HAI's international partners.
Ongoing campaigns cover a variety of topics, such as new trends in
drug promotion, the development of national drug policies in Central
and Eastern Europe, implementing guidelines for drug donations, and
improving access to drug information. The project officer must be able
to coordinate proper and timely responses to current events. The
project officer's work will also include fundraising and reporting to
international donors.
This position requires a background in coordinating international
campaigns and international networking plus a number of skills needed
to support a global effort to encourage the rational use of medicines,
including:
- the ability to analyse health and pharmaceutical policy issues
- policy advocacy and representation in a complex environment
- experience in fundraising, reporting to donors and project
management
- workshop facilitation and public speaking skills
- excellent written and spoken English, fluency in other languages is
an advantage
- computer word processing skills
The project officer will carry out these activities within a small
office team of three other project officers and two administrative
staff members. HAI offers a 32 hour/week position, and a one-year
contract with the possibility of extension. The salary range is
dependent on age and experience, minimum Dfl 5.044,00 per month
gross salary (full-time equivalent).
