E-DRUG: Help wanted - Vet drug

------------------------------

I am trying to obtain a supply for vetinary use of a drug known as
moxidectin. It is an antihelmintic and apparently used in larger
animals. I am told it is available in South America. Can anyone give
me help in this? I would be most grateful.

E-DRUG primarily deals with issues related to drugs for human use.
If anyone is aware of discussion group (s) that deals with vet
drugs, please email me so that all future questions can be referred
to the right group. Thanks.

Meanwhile, this morning, I copied the above posting to specialists on
vet drugs at the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) and within moments,
I got a response from Kathryn Meyer, to whom I am grateful.

Kathryn Meyer's response is reproduced below:

Moxidectin is an anthelmintic that has recently become available in
the US for use in dogs and horses. Fort Dodge Animal Health holds the
NADA's for these products.

Moxidectin is marketed as ProHart, in tablet form, for use as an RX
monthly oral heartworm preventative in dogs (30, 68, and 136 mg sizes).
(NADA # 141-051)

Moxidectin is marketed OTC as Quest, a general dewormer for horses
available in a gel formulation for oral use. (NADA # 141-087)
