E-DRUG: Improving prescribing practices in PHC facilities of Nepal (4)
-------------------------------------------

Dear all,

We appreciate the readers interest on methodology and findings on "Successful intervention to improve prescribing practices in PHC facilities of Nepal" posted on e-drug. As described in the publication, there are two phases of the study. The first phase (research phase) was testing strategies in nine districts of Nepal and the second phase has been pilot implementation of the successful intervention, the peer- group discussion (PD) in a district. The full version of the report on research phase(Test of strategies for implementing standard treatment schedule in improving use of drugs) is available on our website (www.inrud-nepal.org.np). The second phase of our publication is pilot testing of the successful intervention i.e. peer-group discussion in a district. The PD is conducted by the District Health Officer every two months on self- monitoring data presented by the incharges from the health facilities. The self- monitoring data are generated by each health facilit!
y from the carbon copy prescriptions. We would like to make clear that the PD is different from the FGD.

The findings from each health facility and cumulative data from the district of each PD are available with the District Health Office and a copy of the same is also available with us. We are delighted in including the findings from few PDs for the reference of the readers. So far, 18 PDs are being held in last three years.
