E-DRUG: Inappropriate donations to Aceh (5)

Colleagues,
I totally agree with Phillip's position, we need stronger public health
safeguards to stem the tide of inappropriate drug donations, especially
in poor countries. I also feel the companies involved in inappropriate
donations not only add to the human tragedy, but MUST BE MADE TO MEET
THE COSTS of safe withdrawal and disposal of the offending medicines.

[Some countries have included in their guidelines for donations, that unsolicited donations will be returned to the donor, at the donor's expense. That is good in principle, but in a devastated situation such as that confronting Aceh, it would not be easy to implement such a policy. But I agree, where possible that policy should be implemented and it might help our education campaign about this issue. BS]
