[e-drug] Indication of strength in FDCs

E-drug: Indication of strength in FDCs
---------------------------------------------
Survey
Indication of strength in the brand name of FDCs (Fixed Drug
Combinations, drug products with more than one active ingredient).

Drug authorities in most countries demand that strength must be
indicated very clearly in the labeling of pharmaceutical products with
one active substance. In contrast to this, strength is usually not
indicated with numerals in the brand names of FDCs. Practice varies very
much between and within countries, and between and within companies,
also within the multinational ones.

The lacking standard is a growing problem due to at least three factors:
Globalisation of the pharmaceutical market, growth of parallel import,
and the need for different strengths of FDCs.

The purpose of this survey is to draw attention to the problem, to get a
better knowledge of the situation, and to get ideas for good solutions.
