E-DRUG: Injection safety (3)

Re: E-DRUG: Injection Safety (3)

Yes, I entirely agree. One of the best ways to improve safety is
to reduce numbers of injections, it is part of the matirx. To
achieve it will usually require substantial social and behavioural
change amongst the public and nurses, but it should be high on the
list of strategies. One district in Romania banned all injections
in orphanages as a result they had fewer episodes per capita of ARI
and Diarrhoea than district which gave injections.

                                         ARI Diarrhoea
Average episodes/child/yr
of injecting districts 2.3 1

Average episodes/child/yr
non injecting district 2.2 0

Injections/child/yr injecting districts 61.9 2.1

Injections/child/yr for non-injecting 0 0
district
