Dear Colleagues,

It brings us great pleasure to introduce to you our next Moderated
Discussion: SHINING THE SPOTLIGHT ON PEOPLE.

This discussion will examine if individual capacity is actually at the
heart of human resource issues in running public health supply chains and,
if so, how can this component be improved. This discussion is being
presented by an experienced and accomplished group who include:

Musonda Kasonde, Capacity Development Manager*, UNICEF Supply Division.
Musonda is the Capacity Development Manager at UNICEF Supply Division in
Copenhagen responsible for government supply chain (SC) strengthening and
capacity development initiatives across the globe. She has over 19 years of
experience in Procurement and Supply Chain Management covering a diverse
range of commodities including health. Her experience has been acquired in
a broad range of organizations including UNICEF Nigeria, the UN in
Tanzania, Citigroup, Capgemini Ernst and Young, Ericsson and Nokia in the
UK. She has also carried out assignments within a number of public sector
organizations. As such Musonda is conversant with supply chain management
and performance improvement methods in a variety of settings. Over the past
3 years she has been chairing the people and practices working group, a
group of partners with a common interest in developing SC leadership and
strengthening human resources at country level in the context of the Gavi
Alliance Immunization SC strategy. Musonda holds a Bachelors’ degree in
Electronic Engineering, a Bachelors’ degree in law and an MBA in
Procurement and Supply Management. She is originally from Zambia and speaks
English and French.

Dominique Zwinkels, Executive Manager, People that Deliver*
Dominique Zwinkels is the Executive Manager of the People that Deliver
Initiative, a partnership of organizations working towards global
recognition that competent, recognized and supported supply chain workforce
are needed in order to have strong public health supply chains. Prior to
this position, Dominique worked for John Snow International at the
Partnership for Supply Chain Management (PFSCM). She has also worked for
the International Food Policy Research Institute, an NGO called Innovative
Resources Management, and has over seven years of experience with two
multilateral development banks – the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB)
and the International Finance Corporation (IFC). She has both an MBA in
International Business Administration and a Master's degree in Nutrition.
She is fluent in English, Spanish and Dutch. As a native of The Netherlands
and having lived in Latin America (Peru, Colombia, and Venezuela) and
Washington, DC, she is now based at UNICEF SD in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Abre Van Buuren, Manager - Africa Supply Chain Academy, Imperial Health
Sciences. Abre is a registered learning and development practitioner with
15 years experience in the supply chain private sector environment. His
skills include guiding, motivating, developing and mentoring others to
achieve exceptional results. Abre has excellent planning skills that lead
to exceptional results, ability to identify and address all learning and
development needs and obstacles in the supply chain environment. He has
prior experience in leading management development and training-of-trainers
programs and emphasis and measure ROI through all trainings in order to
measure performance improvement. He is responsible for the strategic
leadership and design of the well-known Imperial Health Sciences Supply
Chain Academy.

Ruby Headley, Humanitarian Resilience and Relief Program Manager, UPS/Gavi
Ruby holds a Master’s degree in Management Transport Logistics from the
University of Paris-Est Creteil (Paris 12). She is a UPS Foundation
employee on loan to GAVI through their Private Sector Engagement with the
UPS Foundation. For the past 4 years, prior to joining Gavi, Ruby was on
assignment in Washington with PFSCM (Partnership For Supply Chain
Management) a PEPFAR contractor. She worked for PFSCM as a Freight &
Logistics Supervisor arranging logistics solutions for pharmaceuticals &
medical supplies donated by both USAID and the Global Funds to all the
French speaking countries in Africa. In addition she handled the shipping
of the donated products from the manufacturer’s plant all the way till
final delivery at the designated warehouse of the Ministry of Health or NGO
in the recipient countries. This past assignment gave her a thorough
knowledge of the supply chain solution and customer management in the
healthcare industry. Ruby is Senegalese, born and raised in Dakar, she
speaks Wolof her native language and French her country’s official language
as well as English along with a working knowledge of Spanish.

Bridget McHenry, Organizational Development Advisor, USAID*
Bridget J McHenry, MPH, CSCP, is a Global Health Fellow and Organizational
Development Advisor for Commodity Security & Logistics at USAID. Ms.
McHenry works in USAID’s Global Health Bureau in the Office of Population
and Reproductive Health. Ms. McHenry holds a Master of Public Health degree
from George Washington University and is an APICS Certified Supply Chain
Professional. She served in Togo as a Peace Corps Volunteer working on HIV
prevention and community health. She also worked for the White Ribbon
Alliance for Safe Motherhood for 7 years, most recently as Alliance
Development and Capacity Building Advisor, focused on supporting grassroots
alliances in Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia. In her current role as the
Organizational Development Advisor, she is working on organizational
development and capacity building issues related to human resources for
health (HRH) for supply chain management (SCM) for health commodities,
particularly reproductive health and family planning commodities. She is a
technical advisor to the work of the DELIVER Project and the Global Health
Supply Chain – Procurement and Supply Management Project (GHSC-PSM) and
supports USAID's engagement in the global People that Deliver Initiative
and IAPHL oversight. Her work has taken her to Bangladesh, Brazil, Burkina
Faso, Denmark, France, India, Indonesia, Madagascar, Malawi, Malaysia,
Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Thailand, Togo, and
the United Kingdom.

Philippe Jaillard, Program Leader - Health Technologies and Logistics,
Agence de Medecine Preventive (AMP)* At AMP since 2001, Philippe Jaillard
is Program Leader in Health Technology and Logistics. His work includes
provision of strategic, managerial and technical support to developing
countries, notably in Africa, but also in Asia and Latin America, in areas
including vaccine delivery, cold chain equipment management, injection
safety and waste management, logistics training program development, and
logistics and programmatic issues related to the introduction of new
vaccines. Most recently, he led the development of AMP's LOGIVAC program in
Benin. He was responsible for the establishment of the LOGIVAC Center, a
health and immunization logistics training and research center that serves
Francophone African countries, and supported the development of a second
center to serve East Africa in Rwanda. For more than 10 years, Philippe
Jaillard has been involved in the AMP award winning EPIVAC program that has
trained more than 500 health system managers in Africa, and provided
support to countries for new vaccine introduction and increase of vaccine
coverage and equity. He holds an MPH in public health and a Master degree
in project management in developing countries.
