[e-drug] Irrational use - what is needed to control prescribers or promoters?(3)

E-DRUG: Irrational use - what is needed to control prescribers or promoters?(3)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Many thanks to Ken Harvey for highlighting the issue of public
deception to believe that proprietary brands such as Nurofen are more
effective than generic medicines containing exactly the same ingredient.

Also, thanks for highlighting the false claims by promoters of
complementary medicines.

In both examples, what is needed is for governments to assume their
responsibility under international human rights law to ensure that
citizens are fully informed of the facts about commonly used
medicines, as demonstrated by Health Information for All (HIFA) and the New York Law School

http://www.hifa2015.org/hifa2015-and-human-rights/

Universal access to reliable, independent information on medicines is
a prerequisite for rational prescribing and use.

The HIFA Vision: A world where every person and every health worker
has access to the healthcare information they need to protect their
own health and the health of others

Best wishes,
Neil
