[e-drug] Irrational use - what is needed to control prescribers or promoters?

E-DRUG: Irrational use - what is needed to control prescribers or promoters?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Colleagues,

I have been working on rational use of medicines since last ten years in my country, but I am totally discouraged by public legislation and policies.

For example, regarding nutroceuticals,
Tablets Opera MV (locally manufactured-Vitamins and Minerals) (Retail PKRs.350)
On the other hand multinational products are available e.g. Optilets M (Retail PKRs. 60).

That is six times high cost is charged for a low quality product, being an unnecessary burden on illiterate and poor patient, just filling the pockets of (concerned) greedy prescribers.

I have checked in my country, no authority is dealing to control its promotion or to control the prescribers.

By posting this email on e-drugs, I want to hear from my colleagues (esp in low and middle income) countries, how the promoters of such products and the prescribers are dealt by public law.

Regards
