E-DRUG: Less problematic drug donations
---------------------------------------
Less problematic drug donations :
Most of the reported problems about the drug donations have also been
experienced in Afghanistan. But donated drugs that have been supplied from
international suppliers of essential drugs seem to be less problematic in
both the acute phase of emergency and in the post-emergency period. Drugs
supplied from these sources comply with most of the requirements stated in
WHO guidelines for drug donations.

Medicine, Kabul, Afghanistan.

[I assume you mean the newly revised WHO Emergency Health Kit? Those kits
are indeed quite useful, and can be bought off the shelve from IDA, UNIPAC
and some more suppliers. I have also heard that Emergency Health Kits were
one of the most useful donations received in Kosovo. So not all donations
are rubbish! If the needs of the recipient are not clear, good-willing
donors probably spend their money most effectively by buying these
emergency health kits. WB]
