I write to ask if any among us has detail information on DRF set up in Africa, and factors that affect drug mark-up fixing (i.e % markup).

Dear Salisu,
In addition to what has been said of factors that could make up the mark-up for DRFs, There might be need to add a percentage for Deferrals and Exemption (To take care of the financial accessibility). This is dependent on the local situation. In many African countries, there are no systems for caring for the poor. Setting up DRFs in such situations should make provisions for such people even if it means some people pay more so those who cant pay can access these drugs.
A provision for Monitoring and Supervision can also be considered where there the Government does not provide logistic support. Generally what is supervised gets done.
However, these provisions can be as low as possible so as not to raise the prices of the items beyond reach. The source of procurement/method should therefore be cost-effective.
