[e-drug] Medicines Transparency Alliance: Toolbox and review of the pilot

E-DRUG: Medicines Transparency Alliance: Toolbox and review of the pilot
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear E-druggers,

The Medicines Transparency Alliance is a pilot multi-stakeholder
alliance working to improve access and affordability of medicines for
the one-third of the world's population unable to access essential
medicines due to high cost or local unavailability.

The MeTA Toolbox has been developed as a world-class resource to
showcase the tools that can be explored and applied by countries who
want to improve access to essential medicines by increasing transparency
in the medicines supply chain through the creation of a
multi-stakeholder alliance. It can be accessed here through the MeTA
website:

Country experiences from the MeTA pilot phase have been documented here:

The challenges, successes and innovations of the pilot phase have also
been collected in "Medicines Transparency Alliance: A Review of the
Pilot" a report that can be accessed here:

A 6-minute MeTA documentary can be viewed here:

Options have been put forward to DFID ministers about the continuation
of some form of the Medicines Transparency Alliance and a decision will
be made in early 2011 about the future of the programme.
