[e-drug] Multidisciplinary pharmacy education

E-DRUG: Multidisciplinary pharmacy education
------------------------------------------

Registration is now open for the fourth Pharmacy Education Symposium in
Prato, Italy, 9-11 July 2007. The theme of the Monash University and
King's College Symposium is 'Teaching for multidisciplinary practice'.

The organisers are thrilled to announce that Professor Debra Humphris,
will be the keynote speaker. Professor Humphris, Director of the Health
Care Innovation Unit at the University of Southhampton, led a project to
integrate interprofessional learning through major curriculum reform
across health and social care pre-qualifying programmes in the UK. "How
can we teach our students in silos and expect them to work in teams?"
says Professor Humphris.

Professor Humphris will be joined by other internationally recognised
speakers: Ian Bates, Professor of Pharmacy Education at the
<http://www.pharmacy.ac.uk/> School of Pharmacy, University of London;
Rosemin Kassam, Associate Professor and Director of the Structured
Practice Education Program, <http://www.pharmacy.ubc.ca/index.html>
Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at The University of British
Columbia, Canada; and Stephen Chapman, Professor of Prescribing Studies
and Head of Department at Keele University, UK.

'Multidisciplinary teaching is the current "buzz word". The time is
right for us to learn and discuss what works well and share our
experiences', Dr Jennifer Marriott, from the Department of Pharmacy
Practice, Monash University, and the Chair of the organising committee,
said.
