E-drug: National Drug Policy Steering Committee

Dear E-Druggers,
Zambia launched its NDP in February 1999. To implement its
aspirations, it has been using the Ministry of Health/ Central Board
of Health National Strategic Plan to implement the policy. This is
different from the Traditional NDP Steering Committee or Management
Team applied in may countries. However, the Strategic Plan was
observed to be weak on issues that affect other line governmental
ministries, NGO's and donors, particularly on finance, economics,
commerce, industry and education. Hence, the desire to take the
second look on strategies used by other countries.
May you please send me information on the roles and functions (Terms
of Reference) of National Drug Policy Steering Committees or
Management Teams on effective implementation of National Drug
Policies in your countries. Information learnt from both bad and
better practices as well as intuition are welcome.
