[e-drug] New dates Meeting Expert Committee Selection and Use

E-drug: New dates Meeting Expert Committee Selection and Use
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear all,

Due to a mixture of staff overload, need for more time to prepare
reviews, and uncertainty about the availability of the necessary funds
from WHO's budget, it has been decided to reschedule the next meeting
of the Expert Committee on the Selection and Use of Essential
Medicines to Spring 2005, with 7-11 March 2005 as the provisional
dates.

The closing date for applications for inclusion, change or deletion of
medicines is now 31 October 2004. However, it is recommended that
applications be submitted as soon as possible to allow good time for
external review. More information on the meeting can be found at the
web site
http://www.who.int/medicines/organization/par/edl/expcom14/expert
comm14.shtml

In general it has been decided to go back to two-yearly updates of the
Model List, followed by similar two-yearly updates of the WHO Model
Formulary. So, the 2003 Model List will now be followed by the 2004
Model Formulary (due to be issued in January 2004); the 2005 Model
List will be followed by the 2006 Model Formulary, etc.

I would also like to remind you that both the Model List, the Model
Formulary and all necessary links to WHO clinical guidelines,
evidence, prices and normative information can be found at the new WHO
Essential Medicines Library at http://mednet3.who.int/eml/
