[e-drug] NYTimes: Accord Likely on Measure Allowing Drug Imports (cont)

E-drug: NYTimes: Accord Likely on Measure Allowing Drug Imports (cont)
---------------------------------------------
Perhaps I am missing something. But how can we hope for drug
companies to provide significantly lower prices in the developing
world if the pharmacies in the developed world can buy and import
these lower-priced drugs as a replacement for those procured locally?

This doesn't sound like good news for proponents of lower prices in the
developing world. Doesn't this leave unsustainable (and frequently
conditional) donations as the only choice for those drug companies
willing to address the challenge of supply to such countries?

It seems we're looking for a utopian world where some pay less but
none pay more!

Someone please tell me I'm wrong!
