E-DRUG: OC OTC??

E-drug: OC OTC??
----------------

Dear friends,

After the completion of a pilot study on drug utilization in our
region we realized that more than 95% of Oral Contraceptives were sold
without a prescription despite the fact that they are "prescription
Medcines" and will -formaly- need a prescription from a physician to
get them at the pharmacy.

I wonder if there is any country in which OC are sold as OTC, or if
there is the same trend in other countries (OC being sold as OTC
despite their classification as prescription drugs). Should OC being
transformed in OTC?. Is it essential to get always a prescription for
them? Why?.
