E-DRUG: Open Invitation for Input: Access to Medicine Index
-------------------------------------------------
[Deadline and direct contact information are in the final paragraph.
Please do not respond to e-drug]
Dear e-Druggers,
The Access to Medicine Index http://www.accesstomedicineindex.org/, funded –
amongst others – by the Dutch and British Governments and the Gates
Foundation, aims to define the role of the (originator and generic)
pharmaceutical industry in addressing the access to medicine issue in
developing countries.
An inclusive, multi-stakeholder, consultation is undertaken every two-years;
initially this was to define but is now to review, strengthen and refine the
framework ( 4 ‘strategic’ pillars and 7 x ‘technical areas’) and key
performance criteria (>100) by which companies’ policies and practices are
measured. Additionally, it serves as an opportunity to incorporate any new
developments in the access to medicines field.
The first stage in the current review process is an online questionnaire:
http://www.accesstomedicineindex.org/content/invitation-share-your-expertise-atm-index-2012
[you might need to repair this long link if it breaks]
The results of which are collated and, following additional consultations,
are then incorporated with guidance from our Expert Review Committee
(comprised of representatives from each key stakeholder group). This process
will result in the methodology which will be used to analyse companies for
the next Index which is expected in Q3 of 2012.
We would like to openly invite all groups and individuals with experience or
knowledge of 'pharmaceutical companies impact on access to medicine (and
other health technologies) in the developing world' to participate. *We
particularly value and would like to encourage the contributions of those
living or working in the developing world*.
We have tried to make the survey as user-friendly as possible. If you do not
have time to complete the whole survey (approximately 1 hour), we would
encourage you to selectively answer the sections of most interest or
relevance to your expertise.
All inputs are extremely valuable to us and we greatly appreciate your
participation.
If possible, we would be grateful for your* *response* by 18 March 2011.* If
you have questions about the initiative or survey, please contact Rachel or
Suzanne at the information below.
Many thanks in advance for your support,
The Access to Medicine Index team
