Well said. Marginalised populations do not want charity or alms in medicines. Just save them, protect them from being leeched and exploited by the rich countries and the marginalised can live, thrive and prosper.
The sucessful marketing of modern medicine is few decades old and humanity has done well for centuries without it.
We have many classifications for medicines. It will be worthwhile to understand the two groups viz. medicines which are affordable to all and medicines and the medicines which are beyond reach for the marginalised.
The marginalised also have a right to quality and effective medicines which is guaranteed (?) by various constitutions and charters. Why these paper tigers make no difference to the scenerio is indicative of the sincerity and seriousness of the purpose of signatory member States to the cause.
When the economically powerful States are more interested in enforcing trade agreements to boost own economic interest the interest of marginalised is bound to be at stake and suffer. What is more painful is that the pleasure of amassing wealth is at the cost of human suffering. Do disease can be more sickening than this intentional human indulgence, which is cause for more misery.
There is nothing to cheer about medicine affordablity.
