E-drug: PA824, new TB drug (cont)

Dear colleagues,
As I have said on the INDICES network this drug is in its very early stage of
development, not even yet phase 1; there is one publication in
"Nature" and one report of an in vitro study in J Bacteriol, and that
is all. That means that it will take at least 8-10 years before the
drug can be marketed. It was bought by Chiron from another biotech
firm. Let's wait and see -it might be a good drug, but just as well
another biotech failure.
One thing is certain - it will (in due time) be very expensive.
