E-DRUG: Per capita allocation for medicines

E-drug: Per capita allocation for medicines
--------------------------------------------

Dear Sir / Madam:

I am doing a study of per capita (per person) allocation of funds for
medicine in government PHCs, and other government organizations in
India for assessing if these allocations are adequate or not.

I would like to ask the members of the e-drug network if
they can provide me with information on what is the per capita
expenditure on medicine in their countries, what proportion of that is
government expenditure, or how much government allocates per capita for
medicines in the PHC system. Are there studies done in their countries on
per capita allocations or expenditure on medicine? If so is a summary of
results available? Finally, what is their estimate of
"optimal" per capita allocation for medicines in developing countries?

Thanking you in anticipation.
