E-DRUG: Pictograms for essential drug formularies

E-DRUG: Pictograms for essential drug formularies (contd)
---------------------------------------------------------

Kenya introduced its Clinical Guidelines in 1994. The final book was
published after 4 field draft trials.

Comments from the field drafts were incorporated in the final edition.
There were a number of flow charts in the field edition which were
dropped in the final edition. The reason was that the field staff were
not very familiar with some of the flow charts. The flow charts which
were useful were the ones already in use(CDD,STD) and the staff had been
exposed to it and had been taught about it.

The existing flow charts from WHO on CDD, ARI,are easily understood by
staff ( probably because they have been taught about it ) and the other
reason is that the flow charts are stuck on the walls.

I wonder if flow charts in a pocket size book will be used that often.
I will send you a copy of the Kenyan Clinical Guidelines if you do not
have it. The EDLIZ and the Malawi Standard Treatment Guidelines do not
have very many flow charts.
