E-DRUG: Policy & practice on TB & HIV - Online questionnaire closes 21st March
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Stop TB partners and dear colleagues,
I am writing to encourage you to take ten minutes of your time to fill
out an online survey aimed at giving your personal views on the
progress in the promotion and implementation of the Patients' Charter
for Tuberculosis Care (PCTC). The findings from this research project,
launched in January 2011 and carried out by the publishers of the
PCTC, the World Care Council, will help those working in TB care and
control to better understand how to strengthen partnerships between
patients, their communities, the wider civil society, health care
professionals and national TB control programmes.
Please note the deadline for filling the survey is Monday, 21 March so
that preliminary results can be posted online for World TB Day, the
24th of March. The complete findings will be summarized in a report
that will then be distributed and posted online and will become a
basis for further discussion with all stakeholders on how to use the
PCTC as a tool to support the empowerment of patients and TB-affected
communities.
I thank you in advance for your valuable input,
Dr Lucica Ditiu, Executive Secretary
Stop TB Partnership Secretariat

The Study of the State of the Stakeholding is online until the 21st March

All those with experience with TB, HIV or any of the many
related public health issues are warmly encouraged to participate in
this 5-10 minute survey. Although the WHO Stop TB Strategy clearly
identifies community participation as essential to successful TB,
MDR-TB and TB/HIV programs, there has been too little data from
countries on the implementation of Component 5: "Empower People with
TB and Communities".
The Study, developed by the World Care Council and the iMAXi
Cooperative, NGOs driven by people living with the diseases, and
commissioned by the Stop TB Partnership, aims to provide a better
understanding of 'where we are' on Component 5, with a focus on the
Patients' Charter for Tuberculosis Care. Using a new system of
community-led rapid research, guided by the Principles of Greater
Involvement of People with TB and PLHIV (GIPT/GIPA), the Study of the
State of the Stakeholding provides an opportunity to learn,
collectively, how to make words like 'empowerment' into realities. So
before it closes next Monday, please join with the 400+ people who
have already completed the survey, and 'have your say'.
