[e-drug] Promoting the contribution of CBOs towards access to ARVS(3)

E-DRUG: Promoting the contribution of CBOs towards access to ARVS(3)
--------------------------------------------

At the onset, let me declare myself a fanatic of rational drug use. I have
been conduction training and field work in this area in African countries
for over ten years now and what I can tell you on the ground is that there
is a major problem with acess to all drugs, not only due to cost but also
poor logistics (leading to losses and uneconomical expenditure) and of
course irrational use.

Is it possible for you to focus on the bigger picture of Managing all Drug
supply and ensuring their rational use? We now know that ARVS have become
nearly as affordable as other drugs for management of Chronic illnesses and
should therefore be treated as such. Problems associated with "vertical"
programmes are well documented and we should not be heading down the same
road with the benefit of hindsight
from a public Health point of view, we need to focus on the whole concept
for the benefit of Majority of the population rather than a select few.

Could I also add a small voice for the children, who are forever forgotten
in any programme despite statistics that expose their glaring health needs?
