THE CONTRIBUTION OF COMMUNITY BASED ORGANIZATIONS TOWARDS ACCESS TO
ANTIRETROVIRAL MEDICINE IN AFRICA
SIDACTION (Ensemble Contre le Sida) is a French NGO whose aim is to support
the development of Aids Programs in research, prevention and care both in
France
and in developing countries.
As we work on this issue, we have witnessed a strong commitment of African
NGOs towards access to antiretroviral medicines for their members and
beneficiaries.
The central role those organizations play in this area has yet to be
acknowledged. Because we are aware of the crucial importance of those
experiences we want to promote them, especially bringing them to the
attention of financial donors.
With the support of UNAIDS and in collaboration with WHO, we are now in the
process of collecting, documenting and promoting these actions. Our project
is called Community Access and its first step is to create a country by
country listing of all NGOs and CBOs involved in facilitating access to
treatments
for people living with HIV. This study is strictly restricted to African
NGOs.
We would be most grateful if you answer before February 15th and/or help
