E-drug: Rational use of drugs in Palestine

Dear e-druggers,
The first conference in Palestine about Rationale use of drugs took
place in Beir Zeit University on October 10th and 11th. This important
event was organized by the Union of Palestinian Medical Relief Committes
(UPMRC) with the support of the French Consulate in Jerusalem and the
UNDP. Participants included health workers, nurses, pharmacists and
doctors from all health sectors, including the Ministry of Health,
Palestinian NGOs, and private health institutions. Representatives of
International NGOs, Bir Zeit and Najah universities, local NGOs,
physicians and pharmacists unions, etc. gave lectures with the aim of
raising awareness of drug rationalization policy in Palestine.
Topics included "impact of inappropriate use in local context",
"standard treatment guidelines", "essential drug policy in Palestine",
"sources of pharmaceutical information", "continuing education for
pharmacists in Palestine", "quality assurance and GMP compliance in the
Palestinian drug industry", "drug donations". "methods of investigating
drug use in health facilities".
Palestinian experts attending the conference showed they have all the
scientific background and social commitment necessary to design an
ambitious health policy for all Palestinians.
