E-drug: Re: Drug Information for Patients (cont'd)
----------------------------------------------------------
Dear E-Druggers,
We initially contacted the BNF Committee so that a modified form can be
published by us. But this project was not accepted by the Government.
Hence though we followed the general format of BNF the different
chapters were written by our own experts taking into consideration the
morbidity pattern of the state and the availability of drugs.
I shall however, very strongly recommend BNF as a bench mark reference
point anybody preparing a formulary.
Regarding the "Banned , Bannable and Essential Drugs" published in the
local language by us , it should be noted that Essential Drugs (WHO
List) was published in the book. Most other similar books talk only on
hazardous drugs. We were basically campaigning for a people oriented
drug policy wherein the demand for essential drugs was equally important
as a demand for banning and withdrawal from market of all nonessential
and dangerous drugs.
