E-drug: Re: MSH-Bill Gates Foundation Essential Medicines Franchise (cont)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear E-druggers,

I am grateful for the information supplied by Jim Rankin/Keith Johnson re
the scheme to improve the quality of product and service in the private
market. Despite all of the good efforts of the essential drug movement over
the years successes in improving and sustaining drug supply in the public
sector are few. The majority of medicines still move through the private
sector where professionals (pharmacists) are under enormous commercial
pressure and often left to their own survival instincts despite their better
judgement and knowledge. It is about time that we invested in the
professionals in the private market to support them in improving the quality
of their service and product to lift them to another level of performance
and I for one am delighted to see MSH take this innovative step forward. We
have to take some risks to move forward, we cannot dot every " i" and cross
every "t" in "essential drug" otherwise we will not break new ground.

regards
Paul
