E-drug: Re: TheNetwork's Campaign Against GST on medicines
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Dr. Warren Kaplan,
According to my best knowledge there is no (reported) case in the
country in which a company has been issued a legal notice for not
ensuring regular supply of drugs in the market.I have also checked
with the senior officials. In practice a manufacturer gets registration
of say 20 drugs but manufactures only half of this list. Drug
regulatory authorities take no notice of it. Yes the law is clear but
its weak implementation is also evident. TheNetwork has been
pleading case with Ministry of Health for the availability of essential
drugs and in none, notice was issued to the company.
