Part of the problem here is connected to what term is used for
'mainstream' or allopathic medicines, which some in the West will
call 'traditional'. For many people in this country, they are the
(rare) 'alternative'.
I personally do not like the term 'alternative' since it implies
'one or other'. 'Complementary' better defines what many
practitioners feel is their place.
