The Ecumenical Pharmaceutical Network (EPN) is an International non-profit
Christian member organization registered in Kenya. Its mission is to
support Churches and Church Health Systems to provide and promote just
and compassionate quality pharmaceutical services for all.
EPN is the only global church-based organization that works specifically to increase access to medicines and to strengthen pharmaceutical services.
The beneficiaries of EPN's services include church health institutions (CHIs), medicines policymakers, health professionals, church leaders, and
health staff involved in medicines management and pharmaceutical service
delivery.
Job Purpose
The research assistant will be responsible to provide data management and
analytical tasks on an as-needed basis for a Member Needs Assessment study.
The tasks will likely include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Review and adjust the data collection tool (including the
questionnaires)
2. Review previous assessment data
3. Prepare clean baseline and panel data sets as new survey data is
collected from the different member categories
4. Conduct descriptive and econometric analysis of data, including
balance tests, cross tabulations, and regression analysis using panel data methods
5. Produce short baseline reports of 10-15 pages to summarize the
findings of descriptive analyses of baseline survey data
6. Assist with revisions of survey instruments as needed
7. Review literature and consult extensively within the network and
experts as needed to refine the methods used for the analysis
8. Draft written summaries of analysis and academic literature, as needed
9. Provide inputs (tables, graphs) for inclusion in impact evaluation
reports
10. Assist with the production of reports, including the production of
specific inputs (tables, graphs) as well as writing, revising, and
proofreading content
11. Assist with data documentation
12. Conduct telephone interviews with EPN member organizations.
Expected Deliverables
1. Clean data sets for analysis
2. Short (10-15 page) baseline reports for the different categorization
3. Tables and graphs for all analyses, with polished tables and graphs
for key findings to be
included in reports
Desired Skills
1. Sound knowledge of collection and analysis of Health data from low
resource settings
2. Proven capacity to analyze and present data findings
3. Computer literacy for writing and monitoring
4. Ability to think creatively and in a proactive manner
5. Good interpersonal skills
6. Proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
Competencies
1. University degree in Social sciences or related development field. A
Masters degree in Economics, Mathematics statistics or a related
development field is desirable
2. Minimum 3 years experience in data collection and analysis
3. Experience in using data analysis software.
Other Desirable Skills
1. Understanding of global public health
2. Experience in management and working with diverse stakeholders
3. Experience in communicating and building relations in sensitive
environments
4. The ideal candidate should possess a very good command of written and
spoken English (French will be an added advantage).
