E-DRUG: Responding to the Challenge of Antimicrobial Resistance - Perspectives of Civil Society, Intergovernmental Organizations, and Developing Countries

On Monday, May 22, join civil society and members of the Antibiotic Resistance Coalition <http://www.abrdeclaration.org/> for a side event at 5:45 pm CET on "Responding to the Challenge of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR): Perspectives from Civil Society, Intergovernmental Organizations, and Developing Countries."
*On the eve of discussions around AMR at the 70th World Health Assembly including countries' progress on national action plans and WHO's progress on the global development and stewardship framework, panellists will outline key challenges and potential approaches for innovation, access, and stewardship across sectors in addressing AMR.
The event will be hosted by Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative, Health Action International, Medicus Mundi International, South Centre, and ReAct-Action on Antibiotic Resistance.
The panel discussion will be moderated by Dr. Viviana Munoz, Coordinator of the Development, Innovation, and Intellectual Property Programme of South Centre. Speakers on the panel include:
- Dr. Anthony D. So, Director of the ReAct-Action on Antibiotic Resistance Strategic Policy Program and IDEA (Innovation+Design Enabling Access) Initiative at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health
- Dr. Els Torreele, Executive Director of the Médecins Sans Frontières' Access Campaign
- Ms. Michelle Childs, Head of Policy Advocacy for the Drugs of Neglected Diseases *initiative*
- Ms. Garance Fannie Upham, Vice-President of World Alliance Against Antibiotic Resistance (WAAAR) and Member of Medicus Mundi International
Following the panel will be responses from representatives from the Indian and Thai governments as well as Q&A. The event will be held in Room IX at Palais des Nations. Light refreshments will also be served.
