[e-drug] RFI: ARV procurement in Kenya and Zimbabwe

E-DRUG: RFI: ARV procurement in Kenya and Zimbabwe
--------------------------------------------------

Dear colleagues,

I am doing some research to support a study on Intellectual Property Rights
conducted by ARIPO and the World Bank Institute.

I am trying to find out the following information on Kenya and Zimbabwe, and
would be grateful for any assistance you can provide (direct responses,
contact persons, or references):

1. What is the first line treatment used in Kenya and Zimbabwe?
2. What is the cost of first line treament in public/government facilities
in Kenya and Zimbabwe.
3. Is treatment locally manufactured or imported?
4. What is the extent of use of second line treatment (ratio or %)?
5. What is the cost of second line treatment?
6. What is the percentage of government procurement of ARVs supplied by
Varichem (Zim) and Cosmos (Kenya) or other African manufacturers such
as Aspen (S. Africa) in 2005.
7. What is the current cost of first line treatment of locally manufactured
ARVs?
8. What is the percentage of government procurement of ARVs supplied from
external sources?

Many thanks for any assistance.
