E-DRUG: RFI: pharmacy dispensing software systems?
-------------------------------------------
[DO NOT CLICK REPLY. Please respond directly to Libby <libby@theplateau.com>, see last paragraph]
Dear E-Drug members,
I'm doing a quick review of pharmacy dispensing systems for an
upcoming meeting. By this I mean computer systems, located in
clinics or public sector pharmacies, which record which medicines are
dispensed to which patient -- like the Pharmacy Module in the days of
Invec-2. Ideally, the system would also track clinic stock inventory
and would decrease the stock once the medicines are
dispensed. Please note that we are interested in the pharmacy, not
the warehouse, level. The goal of the meeting is to start a
discussion on what functionality such a system should have.
I have gone thru the E-Drug archives and found a couple of references
(mSupply's Dispensing functionality), but since these things change
so quickly, especially with the new ART and TB delivery programs, I'm
writing as well.
If you could drop me a note to tell me what dispensing software you
are using, and a couple of lines about it, I would be grateful. I'd
like to know details such as: whether patient regimens are recorded
in the system and are used to generate the dispensing list, or
whether the pharmacist enters the medicines just dispensed; language
the system runs in; whether the system integrates with a warehouse
Inventory Control Program, or an Electronic Patient Medical Record;
if the system is stand-alone or networked, etc. If the system was
written for your project, you could tell me what it's written in
(Excel, Access, MySQL), when, and how it's working.
Thank you in advance, and I promise to summarize what I learn and
post the results back to the list.
Kind regards,
