[e-drug] RFI: Reimbursement as barriers to Pharmaceutical Care (4)

E-DRUG: RFI: Reimbursement as barriers to Pharmaceutical Care (4)
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Foppe,

When you look at the reimbursement barriers to pharmaceutical care, what
exactly is the definition of 'pharmaceutical care' that the reimbursement
covers?

I think this is an important issue as the provision of professional services
is often not funded when undertaken outside the four walls of the community
pharmacy and other more routine pharmacy services often are described as
pharmaceutical care.

In New Zealand the definition is that described by Linda Strand, and
referred to as Comprehensive Pharmaceutical Care. This is a patient focused
process managed by a pharmacist who is held responsible and accountable for
their interventions.
