Is the following dose combination available in tablet form?
Rif/INH 60mg/30mg?
Leona,
According to our information, the below-mentioned anti-TB fixed-dose
combination (FDC), 60mg rifampicin + 30mg isoniazid, has been
submitted for registration in South Africa by the company Hoechst
Marion Roussel, South Africa. The formulation has been assessed by
the Reference Centre for the Chemotherapy of Mycobacterial Diseases,
National TB Research Programme, Medical Research Council, South
Africa, and was found to have satisfactory rifampicin
bioavailability. Hopefully this formulation will soon be registered
and available.
The other WHO-recommended pediatric FDCs, the three-drug FDC (R:60,
H:30mg, Z:150mg) for daily use and the two-drug FDC (R:60mg, H:60mg)
for intermittent treatment (3x weekly), are already registered in
South Africa. These formulations, manufactured by Novartis, South
Africa, have also been shown to be fully bioavailable for rifampicin.
I will send you by regular mail a printed copy of a report from a
meeting on FDC tablets held in Geneva, 27 April 1999. This report
contains additional information on anti-TB FDCs that you may find
useful, including dosage/body-weight schedules for the
WHO-recommended adult and pediatric FDCs.
If any other E-drugger would like a copy of this report, please
