E-DRUG: Short course Pharmaceutical policies in health systems (June 2021)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear E-Druggers,

The Institute of Tropical Medicine in Belgium will organize in June 2021 its first short course in "Pharmaceutical policies in health systems".

The aim of this 3-week course is to enable participants to develop a general understanding of the individual components of pharmaceutical systems, and of the whole system they constitute together; and a practical understanding of those specific components on/by which they may have a direct impact, according to their role, responsibility and context. In addition, participants who are specialists in specific fields will be guided to frame their technical knowledge within a multidisciplinary perspective.

The short course is targeting students from high-, middle- and low-income countries working at different levels in the Ministry of Health, health programmes, regulatory agencies, NGOs, global health initiatives and other donor agencies, etc. Themes include: frameworks to monitor pharmaceutical systems; regulatory systems, pharmacovigilance, post-marketing surveillance, quality assurance, substandard and falsified medicines; pharmaceutical supply, procurement, and pricing; intellectual property, access and innovation; medicines rational use & ethical medicines promotion; transparency and accountability; and the social life of medicines.

Teachers will be from ITM and from like-minded organizations, such as Western Cape University (South Africa) and IDDO (Oxford).
