E-DRUG: Sudan's National Supply Chain Strategy
---------------------------------------------------------------
Dear e-drug readers,
On 21st June 2017, the Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH), the National Medical Supplies Fund (NMSF), hosted a consensus meeting on the recently drafted National Supply Chain Strategy developed with support from UNDP/ Global Fund (GF) Sudan Country Office. The NSCS is a brainchild of the FMOH and the GF, who, as part of the current Health Systems Strengthening agreement and grant, had committed to its development. The creation of the NSCS further cements the decision made by Sudan in 2015, to make the NMSF as the national entity responsible and accountable for procurement and supply chain services to the public health sector.
This consensus meeting, that launched Abdel Hamid Ibrahim Training Centre, was attended by all stakeholders and development partners supporting the public health sector in Sudan. All stakeholders supported the draft which now passes for finalization.
The development of the NSCS and Implementation Plan heralds the beginning of an era were the NMSF will provide integrated procurement and supply chain service for health commodities to the public health sector in Sudan.
On behalf of the NMSF, I would like to thank the FMOH as a whole, and in particular the Director General for International Health, the UNDP/GF and all stakeholders who are supporting the strengthening of the country's procurement and supply chain infrastructure. Our special thanks and gratitude to Bonface Fundafunda and Mohamed Asad who have done this great piece of work.
