E-DRUG: TB Treatment in Cameroon (cont)

Dear E-druggers,
I was out of office and so could not respond to some of the concerns
raised on the issue of TB treatment in Cameroon, especially cost.
The cost of USD 150-200 is not only for drugs, but includes x-ray,
laboratory and hospitalization for 2-3 weeks. Maybe we need some
advice on our protocol.
[X-ray? Diagnosis is made by sputum investigation. Hospitalisation is becaise of
streptomycin injections? If you give streptomycine, should it not be for 1 month?
What protocol are you using? WB]
Talking about Cameroon and National guidelines for TB treatment, I
will say that if there is anything nationally, then the information is
not available.
Information availability in Cameroon is a very difficult issue. I
have been hoping to have a reaction from within Cameroon, but to date
there is none.
As a missionary body we hardly are able to pay for our drugs, even
with CENAME and treating TB patients in the way we are currently doing
is a very big problem.
