E-DRUG: Technical Briefing Seminar 28 October – 1 November WHO
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am pleased to announce the next Technical Briefing Seminar (TBS), organized by the WHO Department of Essential Medicines and Health Products will be held 28 October – 1 November 2013 at WHO Headquarters in Geneva.

The programme, as in previous years, includes updates on relevant topics such as National Medicines Policies, quality assurance, UN pre-qualification, the WHO List of Essential Medicines, and rational use of medicines. New themes this year include medicines as part of universal health coverage and non-communicable diseases. Also new this year is the inclusion of vaccines in the programme. For the first time a poster session for participants to showcase relevant work will be held during the TBS.

The programme will be available shortly at http://www.who.int/medicines/technical_briefing/tbs/en/index.html Links to previous seminars and registration information is available at this site.

The seminar is aimed at national government officials, WHO and other UN staff, NGO and pharmaceutical company staff and academics. Every year a mixture of participants are selected to ensure that there is active participation and varied inputs to all sessions. Speaker presentations and resource documents are made available to all participants and are posted on the web site.

Participation at the seminar is free of charge but participants will have to arrange for and finance their own travel, board and lodging.

The closing date for applications is 20 September 2013. Early applications are encouraged from people from countries who need to apply for Schengen visas.
