[e-drug] Tool for efficient Procurement of lab equipment with items required to perform tests

E-DRUG: Tool for efficient Procurement of lab equipment with items required to perform tests
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear e-druggers,

Sometimes procurement specification are not clearly provided to the suppliers and the list of items miss one or more items without which a test cannot be performed. This leads to a delayed action to test patients. To solve this problem, WHO has published a tool to support national programme officers doing procurement of HIV diagnostics. It covers all laboratory items approved for procurement by WHO and the Global Fund.

The purpose of this tool is to support programme officers to identifying all items required to perform a test with a specific laboratory instrument (kit), and quantities per 1000 tests with indication of price benchmark. All diagnostics are not included as we have well defined inclusion criteria which are well described in the tool.

We hope this tool will be useful to professionals doing procurement of diagnostics in the field.
