E-DRUG: Specs & quantities for efficient procurement of essential equipment & lab commodities for HIV
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We are pleased to share with you a new publication on 'Specifications and quantities for efficient procurement of essential equipment and laboratory commodities for HIV - developed by the Technologies and Commodities Unit of the HIV Department in collaboration with many partner agencies that are listed in the publication that can be accessed at our website: http://www.who.int/hiv/pub/amds/amds_procurement_diagnostic/en/index.html
The purpose of this publication is to facilitate the efficient procurement of laboratory equipment and commodities required to perform HIV diagnostic tests, including HIV testing, CD4 count, viral load and early infant diagnosis. This publication provides the list and quantities of consumables and equipment needed to produce a test result for each of the different technologies included in the document, so that procurement managers can order all that is needed to ensure the full performance of their laboratory services. These procurement lists will be updated as technology develops. This tool will greatly facilitate the planning and budgeting of laboratory procurement in national strategic planning and fundraising. It is targeted towards all laboratory supply chain personnel, logisticians and senior staff responsible for procurement and management of HIV related laboratory commodities at all levels.
For more information on the tool, please do not hesitate to contact us at amds@who.int<mailto:amds@who.int>. More information on Access to HIV Medicines and Diagnostics is available at http://www.who.int/hiv/amds/en/index.html .
