E-drug: HIV/AIDS-related Drugs quantification consultancy
---------------------------------------------------------
Dear E-druggers,
I am working in WHO/DAP with Jonathan Quick and jointly with UNAIDS on
access to HIV/AIDS/STDs-related drugs.
We are in the process of developing planning tools to assist the National
AIDS Programmes (NAP) and the Essential Drug Programme (EDP) managers at
country level in defining their needs and developing strategies to improve
the accessibility of the drugs from national to district level. It includes
the selection and the quantification of the drug needs.
I am looking for an expert in drug selection and quantification and would
appreciate if you could indicate to me some persons with this expertise who
could be interested in working with us on this project. The terms of
Reference will include:
- A review of the existing tools (including the two guidelines that were
developped by GPA in 1990/93 on drug estimation for HIV/AIDS-related
conditions)
-Country visits and contacts with NAP and EDP managers to discuss the
problem of drug quantification for HIV/AIDS-related drugs, assess the
methodology currently used by the countries to estimate their needs, and
assess the need in adapting and up-dating the existing tools for country
use (two or three countries will be selected for country visits)
- Preparation of draft guidelines
- Field test in three countries within NAP strategic planning process
- Final editing
Starting by mid-December 98
Final draft available by Mid-May 99
Estimated working days: 95 working days
Thank you for your help.
